PLANS AS APACHE COUNTY SHERIFF ● Cross Deputization ● Community-oriented Policing Program ● Homeland Security ● Stabilize the office of the Apache County ● Citizen Academy ● Exercise Diplomacy ● Promote and employ the "Fundamental Law", a principle of Navajo law.
THE OFFICE OF THE APACHE COUNTY SHERIFF ● Re-establish a good working relationship in the Office of the Apache County Sheriff. ● Strengthen the principles, goals and objectives of the Office of the Apache County Sheriff. ● Restore stability and credibility of the Office of the Apache County Sheriff. ● Assure adequate protective services to the Apache County residents. |
CROSS DEPUTIZATION ● Fully implement the Cross Deputization Agreement between the Navajo Nation and the Apache County, and its recently approved agreement with the McKinley County of the State of New Mexico. ● Develop other collaborative inter-agency agreements to address law enforcement concerns. ● Possess vital leadership skills and experienced to work with the State, County and Tribal governments to effectively implement the Cross Deputization Agreements.
CITIZEN ACADEMY ● Develop and implement a 6 week training program for the youth which will: introduce them to the law enforcement; help gain respect for themselves, their parents and grandparents, and law enforcement; increase their knowledge about the law. ● Communities will benefit by achieving good law-abiding citizens. |
COMMUNITY-ORIENTED POLICING ● Establish and expand partnerships with local chapters, housing, schools and businesses to create viable neighborhood watch program in communities. ● Encourage development of the School Resource Officer Program at all public schools and contract schools within the Apache County. ● Strengthen information sharing and citizen preparedness capabilities.
EXERCISE DIPLOMACY ● Control alcohol and substance abuse activities, such as illegal use and distribution of methamphetamine and other controlled drugs and substances. ● Encourage citizens to take their concerns about bootleggers and other distributors to their local chapters. ● Committed to meet with bootleggers and distributors and urge them to cease their operation using diplomacy and Ke'. |
HOMELAND SECURITY Homeland Security is a shared responsibility across or entire Nation. As such I plan to: ● Advocate for increased Federal and State homeland security resources to support the Apache County: Law enforcement activities, Fire Department, EMS Program, and Emergency preparedness. ● Support training opportunities for personnel to adequately and efficiently respond to local community emergency needs. ● Ensure the County law enforcement is equipped with state-of-the-art communication technologies to support communication with Federal, State and Tribal partners. ● Strengthen the County law enforcement priorities to guide preparedness efforts.
PRINCIPAL OF FUNDAMENTAL LAW ● Promote and employ the "Fundamental Law", a principle of Navajo law. ● Support the use of Peace Makers and Navajo Tribal Courts in addressing disputes. ● Foster and integrate the use of the Fundamental Law in resolving conflicts in the workplace and domestic relationships. |
